Hi Treeforce Citizen Scientists,
The last trees for our infill planting and weed bashing event last Sunday February 21 were supplied by Rowan Shee from Terrain NRM who presented some information on how they were grown and their growing habits. A lot of pre-planting weed bashing went on followed by the planting of 126 trees by 25 eager community volunteers.
Afterwards our Citizen Science Scientific Advisor, Stuart Worboys from the Australian Herbarium at JCU Cairns, guided us through the downloading and use of the iNaturalist app on our phones to record the flora and fauna of Freshwater Creek.
We encourage you to download the app and add photos of any flora and fauna you see along Freshwater Creek. The project is called ‘Treeforce Citizen Science Project on Freshwater Creek’.
This project received grant funding from the Australian Government’s Communities Environment Program and the Queensland Department of Environment and Science’s Qld Citizen Science Grant.
