Hi Treeforce Volunteers,
This Sunday we are having a Balsam Pear & other pesky vines eradication activity at Radjirr-radjirr on Freshwater Creek. These vines are a pest and strangle our young and old trees…and we need your help to pull the roots out and cut the vines off the trees.
This site is large enough to abide by the current social distancing restrictions so all you need to do is to gather in the St. Andrews school car park with Boyd for the sign in & WHS induction, & stay 1.5m away or more from each other during the activity.
Unfortunately Radjirr is now part of the Electric Ant Eradication area so Boyd will also update you on that.
Where: Radjirr-radjirr which is behind St. Andrews College. Park in the northern school car park of the college right near the oval and gather there for WHS before going in together.
Directions for new volunteers: If coming from Cairns turn left at Portelli Rd at the lights opposite Coles at Redlynch Shopping Centre (this is a short newish back road to the college). At the T, turn left and park in the bottom carpark near the northern end of the oval. Meet the others there. If you get lost ring me 0435 016 906 or Boyd on 0428 717 394.
Time: 7.00am – 9.00am
BYO: Everything – Sun smart gear, hat, covered shoes, gloves, water, SECATEURS or other suitable and safe tools, LONG PANTS, and a snack for a quick debrief in the carpark on the way out.
Treeforce will not be covered by insurance if volunteers do not adhere to the Covid-19 government health rules…. and people tend to forget….. but, have fun smashing those weeds.
